Bill Braun Bill Braun is one of the modern masters of Trompe L'oeil, or to fool the eye. From a distance, Braun's work looks like a paper collage made by a child, but upon closer inspection people realize that the pieces are actually 100% acrylic paint on canvas.

BILL BRAUN "Literally from the French, trompe l'oeil means "trick the eye." An artist's statement might undo the fundamental aim of convincing the viewer, at least for a moment, that what he sees are actual objects and not a painting.

The history of Sesto Fiorentino ceramics in modern times began with the founding of the Manifattura Ginori in around 1737, by the Marquis Carlo Ginori. In the following decades, the company continuously grew and expanded its production structure. It manufactured majolica and artistic porcelain, for which it was known throughout Europe.

Bill Braun's paintings are impressive feats of hyper-realism. At first glance they appear to be the ingredients for a child's art project - crumpled craft paper, masking tape, staples and cut out construction paper. In reality, every element is expertly rendered in acrylic paint on canvas using a trompe l'oeil technique.

Gozzoli was trained by both Lorenzo Ghiberti and Fra Angelico and from them he evolved a narrative style of great charm.
