In our last issue, we left you with a set of basically assembled Smith Racecraft Assassin traction bars. With that issue, we looked at the knowledge behind the bars (Kim Smith) and showed the basics of assembling the bars, as well as providing insight on how they work. This time around we'll examine bar tuning.
FS Smith Racecraft ASSASSIN Traction Bars regular and/or flup kit
My main question is Assassin traction bars or Caltracs traction bars? There are several holes in a couple of locations for additional adjustability for the Assassin bars, gusseted TIG welds, built in tie down loops, and they are said to have greater leverage than the Caltracs bars. The Assassin bars are maybe 3/4 to 1" lower at the closest.

It's their Assassin bars that are on many of the 7 second drag radial and other small tire cars around the country. The adjustment on these things is unreal!

The spring mount on the Assassin traction bar is nicely welded and, as you can see in the photos, it offers multiple shock absorber locations, ahead of and behind the rear axle. This allows the bar to fit staggered shock combinations or custom shock locations (where you've moved the shocks to clear the tires).
