Nice drive around the North West of Skye intending to finish with the Fairy Glen. Car park ยฃ2, about 600m walk along mud racks between the ferns to get to it. Interesting topology for sure, great striking rock out crop BUT the fairy glen itself was a fairy lane circile of man laid stones, not bigger than a fist generally and less than 3m diameter.

Although, there isn't any historical legends of fairies creating this landscape, it's very easy to see why the locals named this area after fairies. Fair Glen is growing in popularity, but compared to some of the other sites we saw on the Isle of Skye, there weren't many people.

The Fairy Glen is located on the Trotternish Peninsula of the Isle of Skye. The closest town is Uig, a tiny coastal town on the western coast of the peninsula. From Portree, take A87 north towards Uig. Just before the Uig Hotel, turn right onto the small single track road. There will be a road sign here to Sheader and Balnaknock.

The Fairy Glen can be found just south of Uig along the 80km Trotternish loop in Skye's far north east. From Portree, take the A87 road towards Dunvegan.
