De sitter, a judge, who became president of the court at Arnhem, and T. W. S. Bertling. After preparatory education at Arnhem he entered the University of Groningen, where he studied mathematics and physics.

Lamoraal Ulbo de Sitter became well-known as a structural geologist and died in Nistelrode in 1980. Aernout de Sitter served as director of the Bosscha Observatory in Lembang, Dutch East Indies. After the Japanese invasion of the Dutch East Indies he was arrested and put into a detention camp where he died on 5 September 1944.

Taking the flat limit of the de Sitter spacetime, the soft theorems naturally recover the corresponding flat spacetime soft theorems.
